Community Mathematics

Mathematics belongs to everyone. Let's explore it together.

When math is practiced in community, something shifts. It stops being something you do alone, under pressure, for a grade, and starts becoming a shared way of noticing, questioning, and making sense of the world.

JoyMath community collaborations are open, creative, and rooted in the idea that math is for everyone, not just those who were told they were "good at it."

What this can look like

  • Math Circles: small groups gathering regularly to explore problems, puzzles, and mathematical ideas together
  • Cross-disciplinary projects: math woven into art, music, cooking, design, storytelling, and more
  • Community math events: family math nights, outdoor math walks, pop-up math experiences
  • Collaborative partnerships: working with schools, libraries, community organizations, and makers to bring math into unexpected spaces

Who it's for

Artists, musicians, chefs, designers, writers, educators, families, and anyone curious about what math can become when it's practiced in community. You don't need to love math yet, just be willing to look at it differently.

Have an idea? Let's talk.

Community collaborations are built around the people in them. If you have a vision for a math project, event, or partnership, reach out. We'd love to explore it with you.
